SUBVOCAL | V0.311.005 | Dialing in the Sacred Geometry

This clip follows a fast-paced session working on the sacred geometry around the figure in Subvocal. I’m adjusting the rings, bars and alignments, trying to find how the structure fits together.
Recently, I haven’t been advancing much of anything. I’ve been trying to get through a shutdown. Work worries and the ordinary demands of looking after myself have been taking up more room than I have had to give. I wanted to make this video, but wanting to create and being able to start are not always the same thing. I’m trying to handle that by coming back to one thing I care about without demanding that it fix everything. This session wasn’t a declaration that I’m back to full capacity. It was a chance to focus on the drawing, make adjustments and sit with the process for a while. I suspect a lot of people know some version of this gap between wanting to move and being able to move. It might look like withdrawal, irritability, going blank, or keeping busy with anything except the thing that matters. From the outside, it can be easy to judge the pause. From inside, it can feel like struggling to reach the starting point. Understanding that doesn’t erase the effects of our actions, but it can give us a less punishing place to begin again. I wasn’t trying to turn the geometry into a direct symbol for my life. I was trying to create. Still, the work gives me a place to consider how separate parts relate, where they meet, and what happens when I adjust one line. Art doesn’t settle the larger questions for me. It lets me stay near them and give some of what I’m carrying a visible form. For now, this is one session and one step back into the groove. To be continued...
