Darkside Incubator, UNIT 902 | V0.902.001

This is the first documented development after the initial sketch.

The drawing started on my phone without a finished concept. I was following lines and looking for forms. As the sketch developed, I started seeing chambers or incubators within the structure.

I don't know what they contain.

Visual changes

• More of the larger structure has been defined.
• Additional chambers are beginning to appear.
• Connections between forms are becoming clearer.
• Some of the original loose lines are starting to read as mechanical or organic structures.
• The overall composition is becoming easier to see, even if the subject itself is still unresolved.

Video

The original drawing session was much longer than the final video.

Rather than heavily speeding up the footage, I selected sections where something meaningful was changing. I wanted the drawing to remain readable instead of turning the process into frantic movement.

The final edit is about a minute long.

Most of the video moves between closer views of the drawing process before pulling back to the larger composition. The final view is held longer so there is time to see what all of those smaller decisions became.

Naming

I also started a new system for documenting these works.

V0.902.001

The designation currently breaks down as:

V0 — current creative cycle
902 — project identifier
001 — documented state

The initial appearance of the project is considered V0.902.000.

This is the first progression beyond that state.
